I’m having a bad day

I locked my keys in my car at work, so I had to get a ride home from the residential gay guy (he’s very friendly though).  Don’t know how I am going to get them out of my car tomorrow, either will have to call a locksmith or hope my mom’s AAA will work for me.

Not only that but my camera got broken this weekend by my brother-in-law, in the EXACT same way my old camera got broken. I just got it in May, I think I have gone through 3 cameras in the past year. I feel bad by demanding that my sister and her husband get me a new one, they have two kids after and all don’t make that much money. But damnit, if I broke their camera I would get them a new one.

Also I bit my lip pretty badly and it’s been swollen the past couple of days and I threw up from too many jaegerbombs the other night. I feel like nothing is going my way right now, I feel sorry for myself, beleaguered and discouraged.

Nephews

I watched my nephews this past weekend, which seems to be fairly common occurrence as of late. I don’t mind watching them, I love them to death. But after a couple of hours it makes me wonder how people with children do it. They are such a handful! The oldest, Shaun, is 4. The younger one, Steven is 1 1/2 years old.

I watched them because my sister and her husband were going golfing, it was my sisters first time and she grossly underestimated how long it would take them. They were probably at my house for 4 or 5 hours, and my house is pretty boring for kids. I swear I have watched Alladin and Scooby Doo at least 20 times each in the past few months.  I did get Shaun into sharks though and I downloaded Shark Week 2009 for him, he must get his obsession with dangerous animals from me. But even videos of great white attacks will only keep a 4 year old occupied for so long.

They did help me make breakfast, it was so cute with them sitting on the counter and putting salt in the eggs or scrambling them; Shaun even flipped the bacon for me. I took pictures of course and I’ll have them up here soon. The greatest thing about watching my nephews is that I can have fun with them but then I can give them back.

There is never enough time

I feel like I never have enough time in the day to just relax and do nothing. I work 40 hours a week and during peak season I work overtime (I work for a hazard insurance company), I am always being asked to do something for my family; be it babysitting or running to the store or cooking something, I work out, shop… Ok it doesn’t sound like I really do that much. I’m probably being melodramatic as usual.

The boyfriend and I just had our one year anniversary. It’s hard to imagine that we have been together for a year, it doesn’t seem that long. But I’m still shocked that it’s already August of 2009, it’s true what they say: The older you get the faster time goes.  Everything is great with us as usual. We have never gotten in a fight, we never even really disagree. I think it’s because we are both laid back and easygoing. I’m extremely lucky to have him though and I couldn’t wish for any more.

Things are going really great for me right now, I feel very fortunate. I have a great boyfriend, I’m financially stable and can support myself, I have a really cool  roommate, I’m in shape, and I love my job.

Baby Names

This is a blog I am going to keep updated with my favorite baby names. I run across new names, almost on a daily basis that I just absolutely fall in love with.

Girl Names:

Layla

Sophie

Emma

Natalie

Nadia

Boy Names:

Aiden

Garret

Oliver

** Just to reaffirm. I AM NOT PREGNANT. These names have all been on my listography for about 3 years now. I just love picking out baby names. I don’t plan on having a kid anytime soon, there are too many other things I want to do first.

Radio Stations

There are a lot of things that annoy the shit out of me. And one of these is radio stations, mix stations that play “everything” in particular. Every 20 minutes they shove these ads down our face that they don’t discriminate, they don’t stick with one genre, they play every music, they play anything! I call bullshit. I never hear these stations play rap or hip hop, I never hear them play classical, jazz or country music either. They basically just play a mix of easy listening. This is just one of the many things on my daily commute that annoys me. I drive 25 minutes to work, there and back it’s a total of 50 minutes…almost an hour. Where I have to listen to radio stations that always have their commercials on at the same time!! Why can’t they stagger it out? It seems that would be the most logistical solution.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I saw the new Harry Potter last night, and I must say…I’m rather dissapointed. I have to start with the theater experience, which was terrible. The theater was freezing, I normally get a little chilly in theaters but this was different. It felt like I was being blasted with 30 degree air, luckily I always take a sweater with me. My boyfriend did not though (even though I told him to), and he had to put his arms inside his shirt, this guy NEVER gets cold either. The temperature just made the experience uncomfortable, which is not something you want when watching a movie.

I’ll keep this concise and won’t go into plot details, because I don’t want to give away any spoilers. I haven’t read the book in a few years, and I only read it once.  I actually was pretty pleased with the movie when I was walking out of the theater, until my sister reminded me of all the things they left out (like I said, it’s been awhile since I read the book), she had just read the book and she was actually pretty pissed at all the stuff they left out. She gave me the book and after reading the first couple of chapters I can already see some cool stuff the left out, the meetings between the Prime Minister and the Minister of Magic for example, that would have been really cool in the movie, even though it wasn’t necessary.

But there are also scenes in the movie that were not in the book that were also not necessary. These scenes were all character development scenes, why do we need all this character development for characters who we have gotten to know for 5 movie?. They played the romantic aspect of the books for most of the film which sacraficed some cool actions scenes they could have put in.

I’m just hoping they add some stuff they left out in the next movie, from what I hear the seventh books is going to be split into two movies…that should give them some space to put in some scenes from the sixth book.

Republicans are sore losers.

This rant stems from the many negative status updates I see posted by my Republican friends on facebook nearly everyday. Now politics are not something that I get into or talk about a lot, because I don’t really follow it. I know what is going on in the world and I read the news everyday but I don’t like to get into the political side of things, mostly because it gives me a headache and I feel that it’s pointless to argue with anyone; you’re not going to change their mind and/or views.

I can’t stand close-minded people, and I especially can’t stand the ones who feel the need to broadcast their opinions all over the interwebs.  I am a veteran to this whole facebook/myspace/twitter status updated phenom, I’ve been there since the beginning. The majority of my friends are Democrat, because I myself am also a Democrat. But, the ratio of my Democrat friends updating us with smack talk of Bush compared to the ratio of my Republican friends talking negatively about Obama is exponentially lower.

President Obama has understandably had a rough first 100 days of his term. He has to clean up after George Bush, it’s not easy cleaning up something that has completely gone to shit. I know, I’ve cleaned my boyfriends bedroom before,  it’s basically the same concept. I happen to think that Obama is doing a great job with what he has to work with. I also think that he genuinely cares about this country and ways to improve life not only for the rich but also for the poor.

I’m tired and I need coffee, I don’t know or care if anything I said made any sense. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I’m entitled to be annoyed by said opinions.

More about my trip

I’m actually glad to be back. I’m not a big fan of traveling, it’s too stressful with all the packing, flying and money you have to spend. But it is always nice to get away from Ohio for awhile.

Our plane landed around 8:30 at night on Thursday. One of Chris’ fraternity brothers that now live out there met us at the hotel with his wife. He took us to this nice Mexican restaurant that was a couple of blocks away. The Mexican food in San Diego is the real deal too but also expensive. For two entrees and a pitcher of beer our order was $60. It was $18 for a pitcher of Dos Equis.

The wedding was outside and it was gloomy and cold most of the time. It was beautiful though and a very nice wedding. The water was also too cold to really swim in, I guess the Pacific Ocean is almost always cold, that’s what I hear anyways. I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining. I did have a really great time.

I met Chris’ cousin Jessi who is really cool, she’s my new biff. We’re actually talking about going to Germany in November. Which is something I have ALWAYS wanted to do. We pretty much hung out with Jessi and her friend that came with her, Sven, the whole time we were out there. I definetly was drunk most of the time, but isn’t that what you’re supposed to do on vacation?!

The zoo was also really cool, it was one of the highlights of my trip and what I had been looking forward to the most. It was the perfect day to go to the zoo, especially the weather, because the animals were all out and about and not just sitting there sleeping or in a cave, which usually happens when you go to the zoo.

On the way back we had a layover in Dallas and I actually got to hang out with my dad for about an hour. I havn’t seen him in 3 years. He took us to get some food and have a couple of beers. It was nice seeing him…a little weird too. He always acts like everything is normal when I see him and not like we never talk at all really anymore.

I uploaded a bunch of pics on facebook, I’ll provide a public link to them.

Back from San Diego

I’m back from my trip, I actually just landed a couple of hours ago. It was wonderful, expensive, gloomy some days and sunny for one. I have a million stories to tell but right now I’m exhausted. I don’t know if I will be able to until the end of this week because my little brother is in town and staying with me until Thursday. Hopefully I don’t forget too much.

I also have a thousand pictures which should be on facebook shortly.
